Walking in natural park

Quinta do Pomarinho is the place to be for walking September. This oasis of rest is located in a normally rugged, granite environment and partly even in natural park Serra de São Mamede, a park with many special plants, shrubs, birds, and other animals. There are over 25 marked hiking trails from the quinta, through the natural park, or through the river-area close by.

During walking September a wealth of fruit is available. While on the go, you can pick figs, grapes, and apples! In September the walking temperature is comfortable and in the evenings you can still eat outside and enjoy the late summer. Walking September takes you over old smugglers trails to old white castle-villages, nature reserves, dolmens, and a colony of griffon vultures. Along the way, you can enjoy a cup of Portuguese coffee in one of the local cafes.

The walking holiday program for walking September is well balanced with 3 walking days - 1 rest day - 3 walking days - 1 rest day - 2 walking days. The program is very diverse and can be adjusted to the level and the wishes of the group.

You will stay in one of the holiday homes Portugal of the quinta where you can choose from an apartment, a holiday cottage, or a room in our Friends of Nature House. It is possible to camp at our camping with own tent, camper or caravan. We also offer two rental caravans. If you would like to stay for a longer period of time, you are welcome to join us earlier on or to stick a few more days to walking September.

Walking September is including breakfast, lunch (packages), and dinner. Two of the nights you will visit a Portuguese restaurant for typical local dishes from the Alentejo such as carbrito (goat), javali (wild boar), or dorado (sea bream).

The price for walking September depends on the type of accommodation that you choose and is based on 2 persons in one accommodation.

Local transport is included in walking September so that you will be picked up and dropped off when walking further away from the quinta.
However, walking September is excluding your journey to and from Pomarinho. You can fly to Portugal as well as Spain. The closest airport in Portugal is Lissabon but flying to Porto or Faro is also a possibility. Sometimes it can be quite cheap to fly to Sevilla or Madrid in Spain.

Enthusiastic party

Group holidays, and hence also the group walking holiday June, regularly attract an enthusiastic group of like-minded people. You will find other nature lovers, peace seekers, and walkers who find it pleasant to share stories and experience on the go, at dinner, or at the campfire. During walking September, there is of course more than enough room for some privacy after walking.
