Quinta do Pomarinho is a wonderful starting point for a holiday Alentejo Portugal. On our large estate you can stay based on Bed and Breakfast in our holiday home for Friends of Nature. In this Friends of Nature House you can not only rent a single room but also an entire floor. If you want to you can even rent the entire house for your holiday Alentejo Portugal. Finally, there are former farm stables available that have been converted into two apartments Portugal. In all holiday homes Portugal you can stay based on self-catering or Bed and Breakfast (including breakfast).

Camping

You can also enjoy a holiday Alentejo Portugal from your tent, caravan, or camper. We have a small-scale camping with centrally located sites in the olive grove or on a flat piece of upper terrain. These sites have electricity readily available. We also have a natural camping terrain that is officially located in natural park Serra de São Mamede. The sites are spacious and offer a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. There is a special cooking area and a shadow roof with a picnic table.

Towns nearby

Quinta do Pomarinho is located close to a few beautiful towns that you can visit during your holiday Alentejo Portugal. Castelo de Vide is a medieval town that is seen by many as the best preserved town of Portugal. It lies on the side of a hill and is built in a stair-like pattern. In the 14th century castle you can still feel how things used to be in those times.

Marvão is known as the 'eagle's nest' of Alentejo because it is spectacularly located on a granite wall 856 metres above sea level. It has a still intact city wall and is filled with bright white houses. The sleepy village is certainly worth a visit during your holiday Alentejo Portugal. In the surroundings of Marvão there are also a lot of dolmen dating back to 4000-2000 BC. A 30 kilometre long car trip will take you past all the megaliths and dolmen in the area.

Portalegre is a former strategic city with three castle towers. During the Renaissance the city really prospered which is reflected back in the rich Baroque architecture in the old city centre of Portalegre. Here, you will find a carpet museum where beautiful, varying exhibitions from a large collection of carpets are displayed. There is also a tapestry factory that is still up and running and which you can visit during your holiday Alentejo Portugal.

Evora is the historical capital of Alto Alentejo. The old city centre is on the world heritage list of Unesco and it has a beautiful Roman temple, a Roman aqueduct, and a early-Gothic cathedral. There are also many palaces that display the rich past of this city.
